It is expected that the participants will consider questions such as the followings:

以下のような疑問について、考えていただければと思います。

What does my presence mean to the world?

How can I contribute to the International Community?

What role should I play as a member of the International Community?

私の存在は、世界にとって、どんな意味があるのだろうか。

国際社会に、私はどのように貢献できるだろうか。

自分は、国際社会の中で、どんな役割を担うべきなのだろうか。

Message to the Participants

 Many people are connected and exchange information, ideas and images. The participants in this event have especially enjoyed the benefits brought by these technologies.

 The development of those technologies and the benefits they have brought us feature in the age we are living in. While this new movement, which we call globalization, has opened up many new opportunities for sustainable economic growth, sharing experiences with others quickly and easily, and made it possible to learn from others about their ideas and cultural values, it has also shown us some challenges too. These challenges are visible and determined only by those who share the high ideals of seeking a harmonious coexistence and who want to make this world a better place for everyone.

 We hope all of those who are gathered here at World Youth Meeting 2017, will share their hopes and ideas to further promote the great ideals that human beings have long possessed but have not realized fully yet.

 

World Youth Meetingは、歴史を重ね19回目を迎えることとなりました。この間、コミュニケーションの手段は目覚しく進化し、参加者のみなさんは、こうしたICT技術を駆使し、お互いに繋がることで、その恩恵を享受してきました。こうした繋がりは、我々の生きている時代、グローバライゼーションの時代の特徴でもあります。グローバライゼーションは、持続可能な経済成長や、経験、知識を迅速かつ容易に共有する道を切り開き、いろいろな考えや、文化的な価値を他者から学ぶことを可能にする一方で、同時に新たな問題を我々に提示しています。しかも、その問題は、共存共栄という人類が長年抱いている理想を追求し、万人にとってより良い世界を作ることを願っている人々にしか見ることができない問題です。

The World Youth Meeting 2017が、国際社会が長い間抱きながらも、いまだ十分実現されていない崇高な理想に向かうための希望や考えを、互いに交わ機会となることを望んでいます。
